MICHAEL BROWN

DRUMS

KQBE drummer Michael Brown has played drums for over 50 years, starting as a student of the legendary late Hastings, MI, percussion teacher, Wolfram Fechner. Under Fechner’s tutelage, Brown learned to play across a variety of genres, including jazz, rock, blues and symphonic percussion. This foundation served him well and Brown has been playing in bands since 1981. A lifelong affinity for the blues led Michael to his first blues band, Tailshaker, in the early 2000’s. A founding member, Brown enjoyed 12 years with this well-known West Michigan band. Michael then helped start Grand Rapids-based Stone Soup and the Broken Teeth, playing many of West Michigan’s larger stages with this innovate and originals-focused band. Brown joined KQBE in 2023. Of the group he says, “I’ve never played in a band as talented and exciting as KQBE. What a line-up of players. And Kelly is one-of-a-kind. She puts her heart and soul into every song, every note, and every phrase. Kelly Quinn is the absolute real deal. I’m blessed to have a seat in this incredible band.”
